Convergent Media Policy

At the European Communications Research and Education Association (ECREA) annual meeting of the Communications Law & Policy division, I presented my paper on Convergent Media Policy.

The presentation is here:

The conference was at the University of Salford at MediaCityUK. This is the new headquarters for BBC North, and where the BBC’s production facilities are located for sport, radio and children’s programming.

I discovered that the pros and cons of the MediaCity development are widely debated, and there is some unhappiness among BBC staff who were relocated to the new facilities.

I was very impressed both with the facilities, and with the opportunities it presents for the Arts and Media students at the University of Salford to have access to state-of-the art production facilities and the opportunities for on air work right next to their university campus facilities. Great example of university/industry co-location.
