Social media in times of crisis – ARC Linkage

It was announced today by the Australian Research Council that the ARC Linkage grant application “Social media in times of crisis” was successful. Thanks to Axel Bruns, Jean Burgess and Kate Crawford for their work in getting it together, and we look forward to working with the Queensland Department of Community Safety, the EIDOS Institute and Sociomantic Labs on this project.

Digital Directions 2011

I attended the Digital Directions 2011 forum at Walsh Bay Wharf in Sydney today. As in the previous three years, X|Media|Lab and Fairfax Digital put on a fantastic event. Below are some notes made on the iPad – out for its first journey without an accompanying laptop since I got it – before I had to leave at lunch time.
